Ali ibn Abu Talib reported: I have nothing written with me except the book of Allah and this paper. The Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, said, “Medina is sacred from the mountain unto such-and-such
place. Whoever innovates in it a heresy or aids a heretic then upon him is the curse of Allah, the angels, and the people altogether; his obligatory and surplus good deeds will not be accepted.” And he said, “The protection of the Muslims is one, so whoever betrays a Muslim then upon him is the curse of Allah, the angels, and the people altogether; his obligatory and surplus good deeds will not be accepted. Whoever allies himself with a people without the permission of his rightful master, then upon him is the curse of Allah, the angels, and the people altogether; his obligatory and surplus good deeds will not be accepted.”
[Sahih Bukhari, Book 30, Number 94]
Ibn Hajar said, “The meaning of the protection of Muslims being one is that it is equal whether given by one or many, noble or humble; so when one of the Muslims gives his protection to a disbeliever or upholds with him a covenant, then it is not permissible for anyone to violate it. The people are equal in this regard: man or woman, free or slave; this is because the Muslims are like a single person.”

عَنْ عَلِيٍّ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ قَالَ مَا عِنْدَنَا شَيْءٌ إِلَّا كِتَابُ اللَّهِ وَهَذِهِ الصَّحِيفَةُ عَنْ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ الْمَدِينَةُ حَرَمٌ مَا بَيْنَ عَائِرٍ إِلَى كَذَا مَنْ أَحْدَثَ فِيهَا حَدَثًا أَوْ آوَى مُحْدِثًا فَعَلَيْهِ لَعْنَةُ اللَّهِ وَالْمَلَائِكَةِ وَالنَّاسِ أَجْمَعِينَ لَا يُقْبَلُ مِنْهُ صَرْفٌ وَلَا عَدْلٌ وَقَالَ ذِمَّةُ الْمُسْلِمِينَ وَاحِدَةٌ فَمَنْ أَخْفَرَ مُسْلِمًا فَعَلَيْهِ لَعْنَةُ اللَّهِ وَالْمَلَائِكَةِ وَالنَّاسِ أَجْمَعِينَ لَا يُقْبَلُ مِنْهُ صَرْفٌ وَلَا عَدْلٌ وَمَنْ تَوَلَّى قَوْمًا بِغَيْرِ إِذْنِ مَوَالِيهِ فَعَلَيْهِ لَعْنَةُ اللَّهِ وَالْمَلَائِكَةِ وَالنَّاسِ أَجْمَعِينَ لَا يُقْبَلُ مِنْهُ صَرْفٌ وَلَا عَدْلٌ
1771 صحيح البخاري كِتَاب فَضَائِلِ الْمَدِينَةِ حرم ما بين لابتي المدينة على لساني
قال ابن حجر وَالْمَعْنَى أَنَّ ذِمَّةَ الْمُسْلِمِينَ سَوَاءٌ صَدَرَتْ مِنْ وَاحِدٍ أَوْ أَكْثَرَ شَرِيفٍ أَوْ وَضِيعٍ فَإِذَا أَمَّنَ أَحَدٌ مِنَ الْمُسْلِمِينَ كَافِرًا وَأَعْطَاهُ ذِمَّةً لَمْ يَكُنْ لِأَحَدٍ نَقْضُهُ فَيَسْتَوِي فِي ذَلِكَ الرَّجُلُ وَالْمَرْأَةُ وَالْحُرُّ وَالْعَبْدُ لِأَنَّ الْمُسْلِمِينَ كَنَفْسٍ وَاحِدَةٍ
