Hadith on Satan: Beware the trials of Satan among persecutions, civil wars, and strife

Ibn Umar reported: The Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, made mention saying, “O Allah, bless us in our Syria; bless us in our Yemen.” They said, “O Messenger of Allah, and in our Najd.” He said, “O
Allah, bless us in our Syria. O Allah, bless us in our Yemen.” They said, “O Messenger of Allah, and in our Najd.” I think he said it a third time and he said, “From there will come earthquakes and tribulations (fitnah) and with it the horn of Satan.”

[Sahih Bukhari, Book 88, Number 214]

Ibn Hajar said, “Some scholars said Najd is in Iraq and suggest that it is a specific place, but this is not the case; rather, whatever is elevated with respect to what is adjoined to it is called Najd, and the lower area is called Gawr.”

عَنْ ابْنِ عُمَرَ قَالَ ذَكَرَ النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ اللَّهُمَّ بَارِكْ لَنَا فِي شَأْمِنَا اللَّهُمَّ بَارِكْ لَنَا فِي يَمَنِنَا قَالُوا يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ وَفِي نَجْدِنَا قَالَ اللَّهُمَّ بَارِكْ لَنَا فِي شَأْمِنَا اللَّهُمَّ بَارِكْ لَنَا فِي يَمَنِنَا قَالُوا يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ وَفِي نَجْدِنَا فَأَظُنُّهُ قَالَ فِي الثَّالِثَةِ هُنَاكَ الزَّلَازِلُ وَالْفِتَنُ وَبِهَا يَطْلُعُ قَرْنُ الشَّيْطَانِ

قال ابن حجر قَالَهُ الدَّاوُدِيُّ إِنَّ نَجْدًا مِنْ نَاحِيَةِ الْعِرَاقِ فَإِنَّهُ تَوَهَّمَ أَنَّ نَجْدًا مَوْضِعٌ مَخْصُوصٌ وَلَيْسَ كَذَلِكَ بَلْ كُلُّ شَيْءٍ ارْتَفَعَ بِالنِّسْبَةِ إِلَى مَا يَلِيهِ يُسَمَّى الْمُرْتَفِعُ نَجْدًا وَالْمُنْخَفِضُ غَوْرًا
