Hadith on Nations: Among the people of the Book are the righteous who have faith in Allah

Ibn Mas’ud reported: On one occasion the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, delayed the night prayer and he came out to the mosque while the people were waiting for prayer. The Prophet said,
“Are you not the only people among the religions remembering Allah at this hour?” Then Allah revealed these verses, “Not all the people of the Book are the same…” until he reached the verse, “Whatever good they do it will never be removed from them; and Allah is knowing of the righteous.” (3:113-115)

عَنِ ابْنِ مَسْعُودٍ قَالَ أَخَّرَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ صَلَاةَ الْعِشَاءِ ثُمَّ خَرَجَ إِلَى الْمَسْجِدِ فَإِذَا النَّاسُ يَنْتَظِرُونَ الصَّلَاةَ قَالَ أَمَا إِنَّهُ لَيْسَ مِنْ أَهْلِ هَذِهِ الْأَدْيَانِ أَحَدٌ يَذْكُرُ اللَّهَ هَذِهِ السَّاعَةَ غَيْرُكُمْ قَالَ وَأَنْزَلَ هَؤُلَاءِ الْآيَاتِ لَيْسُوا سَوَاءً مِنْ أَهْلِ الْكِتَابِ حَتَّى بَلَغَ وَمَا تَفْعَلُوا مِنْ خَيْرٍ فَلَنْ تُكْفَرُوهُ وَاللَّهُ عَلِيمٌ بِالْمُتَّقِينَ
